Street weekly market launches
A new weekly market is set to open this Thursday (14th June) in Street.
The market will run weekly, alternating between the High Street and Farm Road in Street, running from 9am - 4pm. On the first Thursday of the month the market will run in the afternoon/evening from 1pm - 8pm on Farm Road.
Representatives from Mendip District Council and Street Parish Council will officially open the market at 11am on Thursday.
Street market will add to the weekly offering of markets across Mendip, with weekly markets already taking place in Frome, Glastonbury, Shepton Mallet and Wells.
Cllr Nigel Taylor, Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhood Services and Community Health, said: "We hope that this market is going to offer something a little different for shoppers, it's the first time that Mendip has run a regular evening market.
"The weekly market alternating between Farm Road and the High Street will be an added bonus to the retail experience already available in Street and we believe it will become a well-established Mendip Market."
The market will host a mix of stalls, from everyday basics to artisan food and treats to tempt everyone, familiar stalls from other Mendip markets will also be present.
The markets team are always looking for traders who can offer something different at their markets, for the Street market the team are keen to hear from producers of good food. If you are interested in becoming a trader, please contact the council's market team on 0300 303 8588 and ask to speak to the markets officer or email firstname.lastname@example.org
