Village Neighbourhood Plan submitted to council
Norton St Philip Parish Council has submitted their Neighbourhood Plan to Mendip District Council.
Norton St Philip Parish Council have already consulted widely on the plan with residents, businesses and a whole range of interest groups during the production of the plan and Mendip District Council is now publicising the submitted plan for six weeks and inviting responses before the plan is considered by an independent examiner. The plan will then be subject to a referendum, before it is finally adopted, if local people vote for it.
The district council's Local Plan sets out the overall development strategy for the district, including housing numbers and broad locations, whilst the Neighbourhood Plan looks in more detail at Norton St Philip. The Neighbourhood Plan contains local objectives and policies for the village including protecting the character and heritage of the village, design requirements for new building, public open spaces and housing needs.
Once finalised, the Norton St Philip Neighbourhood Plan will be used in determining planning applications and future use of land. The Norton St Philip Neighbourhood Plan Group has prepared the plan and Mendip District Council is publicising the Plan as required before it goes to public examination.
People have the opportunity to let Mendip District Council know their views on the plan and its proposals.
The consultation will run between Friday 1 March 2019 and Friday 12 April 2019and representations received outside this period may not be accepted. People who do make representations can also ask to be kept informed of the final decision on the plan.
