6    COUNTY WIDE JOINT FRAMEWORK DOCUMENT TO ENABLE A SOMERSET CLIMATE STRATEGY 

The aim of the framework is intended to give the public an understanding of what areas of focus are currently proposed as priorities in the development of the strategy.

7    PROJECT TO CREATE A NETWORK OF FOOTPATHS AND CYCLE PATHS ACROSS THE MENDIP DISTRICT 

This item has been withdrawn from the 4 November 2019 Cabinet agenda, in order to allow consideration of submissions received and consultation with the equestrian community.

This report reviews the benefits to the environment, the health of our communities and the economic opportunities that creating an integrated network of footpaths and cycle paths across Mendip would bring.

It proposes that a project is developed and taken forward to deliver such a network, identifying the broad areas of work that such a project will need to carry out.

8    MENDIP MARKETS STRATEGY 2019 - 2024 

This report seeks the Cabinet's endorsement of the Mendip Markets Strategy.

The objective of the Market Strategy is to:-

  • Proactively manage our markets
  • Contribute towards maintaining frontline services
  • Support development of the local economy

  • This report is to instigate the adoption of the Event & Filming Strategy 2019-2024.
  • The objective of the Event and Filming Strategic Review is to:-
  • The importance of outdoor events to the economy of Mendip
  • To clearly outline MDC's role in events and filming across the district
