The Mendip Local Plan is being developed from a range of evidence drawing in a range of information sources. Within the published documents, web links to relevant studies and sources are provided to enable readers to understand the justification for certain statements and policy approaches.

We also draw upon secondary research from a wide variety of sources. Statistical information relevant to the district can be found on our Local Statistics web page. Another useful resource is the Office for National Statistics.

The purpose of the Sustainability Appraisal is to assess the environmental, social and economic effects of approaches in order to help decide what the most appropriate policies will be.

The Mendip Local Plan Part 1 draws on a range evidence which will be updated over time to support Local Plan Part II and future reviews.
