Mendip District Council operates and runs its own stall market service.

Mendip's Stall Markets 

We operate and manage seven weekly stall markets in the Mendip towns. These markets sell Somerset produce, food and drink, crafts and a range of general items. Mendip Markets logo In addition, a Christmas market takes place in Wells leading up to the festive season, and a monthly Sunday market operates in Shepton Mallet.  

New Market Traders

We are always looking out for new traders who can offer something different at our markets. In particular, we would like to hear from producers of good food.

Market Rights

Mendip District Council have the sole right to hold a market within the district. We do allow other markets to take place and ask that you contact the Events Team to find out if you need to apply for permission to hold a market.

Frome Market
The market is held at Boyle Cross and the Cattle Market car park in the centre of Frome, BA11 1BE, and takes place on Wednesdays and Saturdays (9am - 3pm). There is also a Frome Independent Market that runs on the first Sunday of every month.
Glastonbury Market
The market is situated in Magdalene Street in the centre of Glastonbury, BA6 9EW, and takes place on Tuesdays (9am - 3pm).
Shepton Mallet Market
The market is situated in The Market Place, Shepton Mallet BA4 5AZ, and takes place on Fridays (9am - 2pm)
Street Market
The market is situated on the High Street, Street BA16 0ER and takes place every Thursday (9am - 4pm).
Wells Market
The market is situated in The Market Place in the centre of Wells, BA5 2RF and takes place on Wednesdays and Saturdays (9am - 4pm).
