South West Neighbourhood Planning Conference Wednesday 25th January 2017

Mendip and BANES District Councils organised a Neighbourhood Planning Conference in Bath on Wednesday 25th January 2017.  The event was attended by over 150 people and featured presentations and workshops on a number of topics. Presentations from the event can be found below:

The second Mendip Neighbourhood Planning Forum took place in Shepton Mallet on the 12th April 2016 and focused on writing effective planning policies. In response to feedback received from parishes, the event was more interactive and included group exercises on developing policy options and evaluating policies.

Mendip Neighbourhood Planning Forum 6th October 2015

The first Mendip Neighbourhood Planning Forum took place in Shepton Mallet on the 6th October and was attended by more than 80 people involved in or considering neighbourhood plans.

The evening was a great success and dynamic speakers covered a range of topics including what neighbourhood plans can cover as well as hints and tips for producing successful plans.

Presentation 1: Lessons learned so far - Ann Skippers, Ann Skippers Planning and independent examiner for neighbourhood plans     

This presentation covered the potential of neighbourhood planning, the role of the examiner, the basic conditions and common pitfalls.

This presentation showcased some great work being done on the Lawrence Weston Neighbourhood Plan, and covered some key principles and inspiring ideas for consultation.

Presentation 3: Support on offer from Mendip - Natasha Durham, Senior Planning Policy Officer, Mendip District Council
