Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs) provide additional information and guidance on Local Plan policies and supporting text.

This could include guidance needed on the information associated with an application , the Council's approach to a policy or interpretation. 

Adopted SPD

Marketing and Business Evidence To Support Planning Applications SPD was adopted 31st March 2017 and offers advice to applicants where evidence of marketing may be required.

This outlines the important features of Frome to be protected and includes a number of guidelines relating to design.

Future SPD

Guidance is under consideration on the following topics

  • Affordable Housing SPD: this will give guidance on how to apply the affordable housing development management policies of the Local Plan Part I.
  • Ecological Network and Biodiversity Offsetting SPD: this will give guidance on how to apply the ecological network and biodiversity offsetting development management policy of the Local Plan Part I.
  • Local List SPD: this will give guidance on the status and processes associated with the administration of a local list of assets of historic or architectural importance.
The Local Plan contains policies to safeguard the loss of sites or premises providing local community facilities or sites in employment use.
Frome Town Council has produced Town Design Statement for Frome which outlines the important features of Frome to be protected and includes a number of guidelines relating to design.
